Fear Brain to Breakthrough: My Humanistic NLP Certification
“I’m gonna get sick.”
“It’ll be a waste of time.”
“I’ll encounter discrimination there. I won’t be safe.”
That’s what the itty-bitty shitty committee in my brain said as I prepared for the nine-day training with the one and only John Overdurf, a renowned trainer in all things related to helping people change for the better and achieve mind-expanding success.
But the in-person training was down south in Georgia, and part of me was nervous about stepping into potential MAGA territory or spiraling into another chronic illness flare.
“But wait a minute, I’m a coach. I know a thing or two about dealing with the fear brain,” I reassured myself.
So I did the work.
“I’m gonna get sick” flipped to “I’m coming to be well.”
“It’ll be a waste of time” turned into “This is the best investment of my time.”
“I’ll encounter discrimination” became “Everyone here is my kind of people, and they’ll all love me even if they don’t realize it yet.”
Long story short, I made my dream of getting certified as a Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology practitioner a reality.
I felt more alive and energized than I have all year, laughed heartily with genuine delight and joy, and made new friends who already feel like family.
And now, I’m amped up to bring these new human-centric, neuroscience-informed coaching tools to my clients and to the world.
So proud!
